PLASMA FIBROBLAST
Get younger-looking skin with this safe, low-risk, and highly effective treatment. The dermal layer of our skin thins as we get older, which means we produce less collagen and lose elasticity. Plasma Fibroblast combats this by targeting aging skin that is traditionally treated with fillers or plastic surgery. This revolutionary, non-invasive procedure lifts and tightens sagging skin and wrinkles and is a more affordable and lower-risk alternative to surgery.
HOW IT WORKS
The plasma pen is an FDA-approved device that does not touch the skin. It uses a controlled electric charge to emit plasma gas that vaporizes excess skin by way of a tiny dot on the treatment area. The placement of the dots will be determined during your complimentary consultation prior to treatment. This charge stimulates fibroblast cellular activity to regenerate cells and to increase the production of collagen and elastin naturally. The skin will start to immediately tighten and noticeable rejuvenation will continue for the next eight to twelve weeks. All Plasma Fibroblast services require a skin consultation prior to treatment to determine if this procedure is right for you.
What to Expect
Wonderful! You’ve decided to experience Plasma Fibroblast Skin Tightening for yourself. Here is more information about the process and what you can expect during and after the treatment.
The Treatment
Please arrive with a makeup-free face. A numbing cream will be applied to the treatment area and you will relax for 45 minutes. Depending on the area being treated, you may feel some mild discomfort. Treatment times vary by the area being treated, but typically treatment is complete in 30-60 minutes. For the first 2-3 days, you may feel a sensation similar to a mild sunburn and could experience some moderate swelling. You will be provided with thorough Aftercare Instructions (see below) and tips for remaining comfortable until the swelling subsides.
Stages of Recovery
Day 1: When laying down, do not lay completely horizontal, rather stay propped up with pillows. Weeping from the treated area is normal as well as some pain and discomfort. The swelling will likely be worse in the mornings and lessen towards the evening. Your eye region does swell up during the first day. however, it will subside throughout the day. It may feel like a mild sunburn.
Day 2: Swelling typically peaks by day 2. Do not be surprised if the swelling is worse on the second day. Remember: swelling is worse in the mornings and lessens throughout the day. Swelling can also spread to the under eye area, but do not panic. This is perfectly normal. The upper and lower eye are all connected therefore the fluids from the upper eye will drain to the lower eye area. Therefore both areas are treated separately.
Day 3: You will notice an improvement in the swelling and the “dots” will start to crust/scab over. The dots must not be picked, allow them to fall off on their own. Your level of discomfort will have drastically subsided. Minimal pain is expected for day 3. For those who experienced under eye swelling, this will still be present.
Day 4: Some mild residual swelling may still be present on the upper eyelids. No more pain or discomfort should be felt.
Day 5: Swelling should be complete and crusts may still be present. The under eye swelling should be almost completely resolved by this point, if not gone.
You will see immediate results after your treatment, but the final results will be seen at about 8 weeks. If you require additional treatments it can be done at 6-week intervals.
Plasma Fibroblast Aftercare Instructions
Keep the treated areas clean to prevent infection until crusts have formed and exfoliated on their own. Follow the aftercare instructions below to ensure the best possible healing outcome:
Ice the treated area (use a clean tea towel to cover the ice pack) alternating 10 minutes on and 10 minutes off for up to one hour for the first 2 days.
Keep the treated area clean using a mild unscented glycerin (Cetaphil) or Dove unscented soap twice a day (morning and night). Gently splash the area with cool water and very gently clean with soap and rinse very thoroughly.
Gently apply the aftercare product provided by The Skin Lounge (using only clean hands) to the treated area as needed to relieve pain/itching until crusts fall off on their own. It’s best to use the aftercare product ONLY on day 1 and day 2 so that areas treated begin to dry out completely.
IMPORTANT! Allow the crusts to fall off on their own, do NOT pick at them. This will ensure the best result and prevent scarring and infection.
Do not apply any makeup (even mineral) until all crusts have fallen off (about 4-7 or 7-10 days depending on the area treated).
Be patient with the process and allow yourself time to rest and heal.
Refrain from applying any kind of moisturizer to the area treated until crusts have all fallen off. Moisture in the treated area prolongs the time it takes for the crusts to dry up and shed.
Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds.
Once the crusting process is complete, always apply a broad spectrum sunblock to the treated area for up to a minimum of three months post treatment. Healing skin can be damaged by UV rays and cause hyperpigmentation.
Do not apply any plasters (liquid bandaid) on the treated areas as doing so can delay the natural healing process.
Don’t work out, swim, hot tub or steam bath (avoid sweating and soaking crusts) until crusts have all fallen off.
Stop the use of any Retin-A topical treatments for 8 weeks.
Once all crusts have fallen off, it is recommended that you begin using Bio-Oil on the treated areas and continue use for 8 weeks. Bio-Oil puts moisture back into the skin, aids in healing, brightening and helps to prevent any hyperpigmentation. Bio-Oil may be purchased on Amazon, Ulta, or at Walmart.
Swelling is to be expected after this type of treatment. This is due to the fact that the area will be recovering from a deliberate controlled burn, therefore the natural side effect is swelling. There are steps you can take to minimize the swelling but it cannot be avoided. You can’t avoid or cure the swelling—it is a response to the trauma. The swelling will subside in a matter of days.
Homeopathic arnica tablets can be taken, but are not mandatory, for pain and inflammation. Arnica is a natural herb that promotes healing within the body, and aids in inflammation and repair. Doctors often suggest taking it prior to surgery.
FAQs
How Long Does It Last?
The results are permanent, although it does not stop your natural aging process, you should still see lasting results for years. The positive effects of treatment will be noticeable immediately after the first treatment, but the final results will be seen after 8 weeks. For some, an additional treatment may be required after 8 weeks for maximum results. The number of treatments required will vary according to the area being treated, skin's laxity, the desired degree of correction and the individual’s response to the treatment.
Are There Any Side Effects?
Plasma Fibroblast has been shown to be a safe treatment due to its non-invasive nature when performed by a certified technician. Small dots of carbon will last 7-10 days before naturally falling off, revealing new skin beneath. Swelling in the eye area is to be expected for a few days following treatment around the eye. To avoid any serious side effects such as hyperpigmentation, follow The Skin Lounge Plasma Fibroblast Aftercare Instructions provided by your technician.
